Programmes & activities under Science & Society Division are primarily focused to disseminate low key technologies developed by National Institutions / Research Organizations.

The broad objective of the programmes/ activities under Science & Society Division is

"to transfer the proven technologies at the grass root level for socio economic upliftment  of general masses."

Pilot/ special projects on appropriate technologies

To provide solution to the location specific problems and also to utilize optimally the resources available through application of S&T intervention, pilot / special project programme is being implemented by the Department in association with field based S&T group/ Government / Non Governments organization / Institutions.

    Successful technological modules developed and implemented by the Department are :

bullet Design and development of Hand pump attachable and Community level Defluoridation Plant.
bullet Execution of Community managed Reverse Osmosis Plant for treatment of saline / brackish water at village Kisari Distt. Jhunjhunu.
bullet Pilot projects on transfer of
  • Mushroom cultivation technology through rural women.
  • Transfer of Vermi culture technology.
  • Technology for cut flower production.
bullet Improved bangle manufacturing kilns in Unch village Distt. Bharatpur.
bullet Improved storage practices for onion and horticulture produces.
bullet Technology transfer for the construction of Fuel Efficient Crematorium (FEC).

bullet Identification of strategy for mapping of S&T needs.
bullet Demonstration of Biogas Enrichment & power generation for energy self sufficiency in Goshalas and Dairies.
bullet Integrated approach for prevention and control of fluorosis.
bullet Low cost processing of horticulture produce in Jhalrapatan block of Jhalawar district.

Science Village
 

To evolve a total / integrated development strategy through S&T based intervention Science Village Scheme is being implemented. The scheme is being implemented in association with S&T field group/ non governmental organisation/ institutions. Under this scheme a village unit is identified as a focal points and participatory approach is followed for assessing the need of the identified village and its peripheral areas to provide  suitable S&T inputs.

Technology demonstration and training centers

 

Technology Demonstration & Training Centre Scheme is being implemented with a view to foster linkages between department and professional/ technical institution of the state to utilise the expertise and infrastructural facilities available with these institution to widen the scope of the S&T based activities.

Presently the scheme is being implemented through Regional Offices of the Department located at Ajmer (HQ Jaipur), Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur.

Under this scheme programmes & activities related to transfer of need based low key technology are being formulated and specialised trainings, Live demonstrations on  appropriate low cost technologies are being organised.

Science & Technology for Women

The broad objectives of the scheme is improvement in the status of women through application of science & technology and ensuring greater contribution of the women to the development of science & technology.

 

The programmes under this scheme may be related to :

  • Providing opportunity for gainful employment

  • Self employment for women in rural areas, reducing drudgery in their daily household chores

  • Ensuring adequate medical & nutrition facilities, improving sanitation & environmental  condition & protection of women from occupational health hazard.These programmes can be  organized by voluntary organisations, women polytechnic colleges/ITIs, KVKs, Home science colleges etc.

Support to Grassroot Innovators

 Establishment of a Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network – North (Under aegis of NIF, Ahmedabad)  to augment and commercialize innovations of Grassroot Innovators.

State Technology Award

In pursuit of the declaration of 11th May as Technology Day, Department has instituted a State Technology Award for Grassroot Innovators to honor and reward the Grassroot innovations.
