SATCOM Project

 

Government of Rajasthan as part of its objective to harness the potential of Information Technology for benefits of its citizens has established a satellite based communication network (SATCOM) Project in the state in collaboration with DECU, Space Application Centre, Ahmedabad. The network will be utilized for intensive orientation trainings and extension awareness programmes for development in the field and community of various Departments like Medical & Health, Education, Science & Technology, Women & Child Development, Agriculture, Cooperative, Mines & Geology etc.

 

The GRAMSAT project will help in selection of appropriate programme by all the line departments and provide opportunity for modification to be made as per requirement from time to time. The project is more intensive. Under this project

1.     An integrated uplink station has been installed at Jaipur and tested for working.

2.     Satellite Interactive terminals (SITs) of two way video and two way audio has been installed in the 28 districts of the state .In the remaining four distracts SITs will be set up very soon.

3.     Received Only Terminal (ROTs) one way video and two ways audio has been installed in all the 237 Panchayat Samitis in the state.

4.     A studio for telecasting and preparing programmes is under installation at IGPRS, Jaipur

 

The Department of Science & Technology, Rajasthan is the nodal agency of the SATCOM project and the EU funds to the tune of Rs.3.40 crores are being utilized for this purpose.
